Kaela Dore

Principal Solicitor

When I completed my law degree, I knew that I wanted to have a career in the legal system. Working primarily in country practices since completing my degree, it's been an incredible journey that has provided me with the opportunity to act on behalf of a wide range of clients with a wide range of legal issues. My generalist background in law has given me a diverse knowledge base, which has been particularly useful for family law cases where there are often significant crossovers into other areas of law.

I am a Member of the Law Society of South Australia and have contributed on both the Family Law Committee and the Children and the Law Committee. In addition, I have been a long standing contributor for the South Australian Law Reform Institute (SALRI) which provides in depth reports to the Attorney General in relation to recommendations for law reform. My involvement with SALRI has been an exciting part of my career by enabling me to actively contribute to proposed change within our legal system.

In 2021, I was appointed to the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia as a Deputy Registrar. My primary role within the Courts was the determination of Applications for Consent Order, weekly Divorce Lists, as well as considering urgent Applications. Working with such a high volume of cases from all around Australia has provided me a deep insight into how the Courts operate on a day-to-day basis, and how the Courts have changed following the merger in September 2021.

In relation to my approach to legal matters, I work with my clients to help them reach sensible solutions. I don't believe a one-size-fits-all approach is ever ideal in law. Throughout my career, I've worked with clients to achieve pragmatic, sensible outcomes for them. A primary focus and passion of mine is acting as a mediator and negotiator for my clients. This means that I work hard to help you come up with solutions which work for you ideally without the need for expensive and lengthy litigation in Court. In every matter, I want to do everything I can to help you reach the best outcome for you, which is why I'm committed to advocating for you throughout the legal process.

I look forward to working with you on your legal matters.
